Grief is an experience we all face, but we've never been taught two essential life skills - How to grieve and, most importantly, how to let go.
We don't move on; we move through.
The challenge is burying the feelings and bottling it all up only increases the pain. What we resist persists.
There's a way through. We don't have to be resigned to a life of pain.
Grief is profoundly personal and individual though we tend to get stuck in similar ways.
We don't all grieve the same though we universally block the flow of emotions.
Letting go is a skill of allowing flow. Our culture shames and judges our feelings and deems them as weaknesses or failures.
We dam the flow when we analyze, rationalize, and intellectualize emotions. We can't "mind over matter" grief. Grief asks us to take the 18-inch journey from our heads to our hearts.
Letting go is letting flow, and peace naturally comes with it.

There were many reasons why I sought out Grief Coaching with AmarAtma. Initially, it was to grieve the loss of many close people in my life, which then turned into grieving my life before marriage and moving away from my home and family. I sought Grief Coaching because I needed someone to focus on the losses with me. My biggest obstacle was thinking I could do it on my own, which I told myself for months. It's been something I have struggled with for a long time, and as I kept losing people, my thoughts would spiral more and more. Life felt quiet, eerie, and still. I felt as if I had no direction and didn't know how to comprehend the death of my loved ones.
Since working with AmarAtma, I have been able to achieve confidence in myself. He validated me for what I was thinking and feeling made me feel like I made sense. I am still deeply saddened at the losses I have experienced, but instead of feeling angry and confused, I feel that it is OK. Now I have practices, tools, and resources. If I feel very sad about someone I lost, there are things I can write or say to myself that will make me feel better. I feel like I am back to myself after years. I believe I will always be a work in progress, just like everyone else. The difference is that now I am motivated to be the best version of myself and to be open-minded to what will come my way.

"Initially, it was my work with Covid patients as a nurse. I was really struggling in my day-to-day. I was fatigued and cranky and really had a sense of loss that I couldn’t quite pinpoint. You're seeking therapy. We won't be doing psychoanalysis or cognitive behavioral therapy. While sessions are therapeutic, this service is not therapy.
Unable to be consistent with the schedule. While weekly sessions is not required, building a momentum is important. Each session builds upon the other. The impact is cumulative.
You're not interested in doing "the work." This is a coaching program where we'll utilize techniques in and out of coaching sessions to help find relief. The only way out of grief is through.
Sick and tired of being sick and tired. Feel powerless or helpless in your grief and wanting do something about it? Yes! Many of us become resigned to a life of suffering. No, there are things we can do. This is coaching program for those motivated to taking that alchemical step.

I work with people in varying fields, including healthcare, where schedules are hectic. Sessions do not have to be at the same time each week. Sessions do not have to be every week, though we want to keep momentum. I sometimes suggest taking a week off to integrate from a session. It's more accurately 12 sessions than 12 weeks.
Yes! We experience many more losses than death. Over 40 types of losses exist, ranging from death, and divorce to moves, education, job change, friendship loss, pet loss, financial difficulties, to shifts in faith, spirituality, or community. This grief program supports the varying losses we grieve, especially as it's personalized support for you. Whether several losses or multiple losses, we can accommodate and support.
Unfortunately no. This is coaching, not therapy or counseling. It is a program with a trajectory of care and an arch of healing. Consistency and commitment are important to this journey for full benefits. For this reason, I've curated a program that's the simplest way with the highest benefit and do not currently offer individual sessions.
About one to two hours per week. As this is a coaching program and much of the challenges we face about grief is that we are under-equipped and under-resourced, techniques, reflections, and exercises help to support the individual sessions. Sessions 7-9 are the weeks with the most extended reflections. These sessions are the meat of our grief coaching program.
No!! This service is specialized for someone experiencing any type of grief - acute or chronic. There are many misconceptions about grief that keep us stuck. Unfortunately, some of these myths don't help and can be detrimental to our healing journey. In the initial sessions, we create a healthy foundation to grieve effectively.
